Two new Shochus in our store

We have two new shochus from Ochiai Shuzojyo from Miyazaki in our range, namely the Kagamizu Ginger Shochu and the Pimento Shochu made from green peppers.

Owner Ryohei Ochiai is one of the most creative people in his industry: he likes to try out the unusual and produces results that are impressive.

The Kagamizu Ginger Shochu brings concentrated ginger power to the glass. It has a refreshing and crisp taste with a subtle spiciness. Ginger Shochu is very rare. The production process uses 20% of the finest local ginger, barley for the secondary mash and rice koji using white koji.

Allspice shochu is made from green peppers, a specialty in Miyazaki. Pimento shochu takes its name from the Spanish name for peppers - "pimentón" or "pimiento", as the taste of the specialty from Miyazaki is most similar to its Spanish counterpart. Compared to our domestic green peppers, these taste much spicier and hotter and are much smaller and darker green. Converted to weight, around 10 peppers are used per bottle for this shochu. The allspice shochu tastes very fresh and has the full aroma of ripe peppers. The spicy sweetness and simultaneous heat make this shochu so unique.

With these two new shochus, our shochu family has grown to 25 representatives made from 12 different raw materials. This is still the largest selection outside of Asia!
