New from us: Beniotome "Red Maiden Black" Sesame Shochu
The Beniotome "Red Maiden Black" sesame shochu is the newest member of our shochu family. The use of black sesame makes it particularly intense in taste. A taste experience that not only stays on the tongue for a long time, but also in the mind.
The Beniotome "Red Maiden Black" Sesame (Goma) Shochu is a very special shochu, as it is the world's first distillate made from sesame. It is produced in the city of Kurume in Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyūshū. The recipe for this spirit was developed in 1978 by 65-year-old Haruno Hayashida, who, as the wife of a sake brewer, had nothing to do with the production of shochu. After many attempts, she finally succeeded in creating the intense and complex taste of a sesame shochu and became a pioneer in this field. The combination of black sesame, wheat and black rice koji, as well as three years of storage in steel tanks, make the taste of Red Maiden Black so balanced, intense and exciting. At 25% by volume, it is very light and pleasant to drink. Thanks to the fine sesame note, this shochu goes particularly well with food, such as grilled or fried fish, roasted meat, but also with spicy dishes and strong desserts.
