Daiyame Shochu - sweet potato with a difference...
It could hardly be more unusual: Daiyame Shochu is an Imo Shochu (sweet potato) that surprises from the very first sip - because the gentle aroma of sweet potato is joined by unusual aromas of lychee and elderflower. Producer Hamada Syuzou achieves this unique effect using the secret "Kojuku" method, in which the sweet potatoes undergo a special maturing process before being steamed. A really special feature that makes this shochu fragrant and extremely fruity and exciting. Daiyame is also made with black koji, which ensures a long finish and subtle umami notes. A very special shochu that surprises, convinces and has it all!

Daiyame was launched at the end of 2018 to celebrate the company's 150th anniversary, and since then this unique shochu has won a number of prizes at international spirit competitions. For example, the Top Award Gold Trophy at the IWSC 2019 in the Shochu category in San Francisco in 2019 and Double Gold at the ISC in London in 2020.

Now available exclusively and only from us for €24.99!

Nayuta No Toki Soba Shochu
Nayuta No Toki Soba Shochu from Unkai Shuzo is a barrel-matured soba shochu (buckwheat) with a particularly mild and gentle taste. It is stored for over three years in oak barrels in a disused Kyushu Railways tunnel in the small town of Gokase. The temperature here in Miyazaki Prefecture is constantly low all year round, the air is particularly clear and the taste of the shochu is strongly influenced by nature. Very fine vanilla notes emanate from the barrel and a wonderful soba aroma spreads when the bottle is opened.

Incidentally, Unkai Shuzo is the inventor of soba shochu, where buckwheat was used for the very first time in shochu production in 1974. The Mayan No Tsubuyaki has already won various competitions, including the Monde Selection Gold Award, and the Nayuta No Toki is traditionally bottled at 25% vol. It can be enjoyed straight, with ice cubes or as a highball with soda. When paired with food, it goes particularly well with pasta, soba noodles, cheese and tempura as well as sweet desserts.

Cost: €24.99.

Jin Junmai: Small sake in a handy 300 ml bottle now available from us!
For all those who want to try sake for the first time and don't need or want to open large bottles, we now have Jin Junmai from Manzairaku in our range. It has a rice polish level of 68%, a full body, an intense rice flavor and a mild acidity. This Junmai is made with the extremely rare Hokuriku 12 rice variety, which only two breweries in the whole of Japan use.

Jin Junmai tastes slightly tart with mineral notes. This makes this sake a light and fresh companion. The finish is long with an intense umami flavor.

The Manzairaku brewery, founded in 1716, is located in Ishikawa Prefecture. There are around 35 sake breweries here, which have a special craftsmanship and produce fine and complex sake.

The Jin Junmai costs €9.99 here.

Trio Infernale: Yuzu Rocks and Lemon Rocks join Hassaku Rocks!
Most of you are probably familiar with our fantastic Hassaku Rocks liqueur, which we have had in our portfolio for some time. The two siblings Yuzu Rocks and Lemon Rocks are now also available from us.

The producer, Sakurao Distillery, uses a unique and patented double-scented method to produce its 3 great liqueurs. The liqueurs are made from the respective citrus juice. In addition, natural aromatic oil is extracted from the citrus peel using steam distillation. No acidifiers or flavorings are added.

Lemon Rocks:
Only Setouchi lemons are used for Lemon Rocks. These are harvested particularly early, namely when they are still green. Hiroshima's lemon farmers have created a new type of citrus fruit with a unique taste by harvesting early. Green lemons have an intense fragrance, a spicy flavor and are zestier than fully ripened lemons. Hiroshima is known throughout the country for its lemons. These are large, juicy and mildly sweet, they are less acidic than lemons grown elsewhere.

Yuzu Rocks :
100% Japanese yuzu is used to make this great citrus liqueur. Yuzu, the popular Asian citrus fruit, is becoming increasingly popular in top restaurants as well as in home cooking.
The yuzu probably found its way to Japan via China. It looks like a lemon, but much larger, as it can reach the size of an orange. However, the yuzu produces much less juice than the lemon. The flesh is sour and aromatic, slightly bitter and juicy. Another difference between yuzu and lemon is the aroma. The yuzu has a much more complex and intense flavor, but not as sour as a lemon.

All three liqueurs taste great neat and on the rocks, but can also be used very well as an ingredient or base for great cocktails (e.g. gimlets, sours). Also perfect as a long drink with tonic, soda, cola, calpis or ginger ale.

Hassaku Rocks, Lemon Rocks and Yuzu Rocks are each available for €19.99.
