Mar 18, 2022
The International Wine & Spirit Competition, IWSC for short, is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. More than 4,000 spirits from over 90 countries were tasted and judged in London this year.
120 spirits were awarded 98+ points, 14 of which received 99 points - the highest score in the competition. Of these top scorers, five were Asian spirits - namely Baijiu and Shochu.
We are delighted that four products from our range have received one of the coveted medals. First and foremost the Sato No Akebono Genshu Shochu, which received a gold medal for the second time in a row.
The Sato No Akebono Genshu Shochu from Machida Shuzo is a Kokuto (brown sugar) Shochu with a complex taste and a fine, sweet, but also fruity note. Kokuto Shochu may only be produced on Amami Island, a group of islands an hour's flight south of Kagoshima. Sato No Akebono Genshu Shochu has an alcohol content of 43% vol., a smooth texture and matures for over three years in steel tanks.
The Sato No Akebono Genshu Shochu is a true collector of bows. It has won 5 medals in the past 4 years alone.
