The producer of Green Tea Umeshu is Nishiyoshida Shuzo, based in Fukuoka Prefecture. The alcoholic basis of the umeshu is the finest Honkaku barley shochu, which the company has been producing in a long tradition since 1887. The yamecha tea, a green tea and a specialty of the prefecture, is mixed with the first mash (moromi) of the shochu and then distilled. The umes are then steeped in the shochu. The result delights both umeshu fans and fans of green tea. The refreshing acidity and aroma of the ume harmonize perfectly with the taste and astringency of the green tea. Umeshu is also one of Japan's most popular alcoholic specialties. In recent years, more and more variants have appeared on the market, such as this special umeshu with green tea.

Tsukushi Umeshu can be enjoyed neat or over ice. It also tastes great with soda (1:1). It is also a great component for cocktails.

Important note: As filtration is kept to a minimum to prevent the fragrance component from escaping, the Umeshu may be slightly cloudy. Please shake well before use. The product contains tea, for this reason color changes are possible after opening. This in no way affects the taste or quality of this product. After opening, please store in the refrigerator.

About the manufacturer

Nishiyoshida was founded in 1887 and is based in Chikugo City in Fukuoka Prefecture. Next to Saga, Fukuoka Prefecture is Japan's second largest barley producer. The barley here is very high quality and aromatic as it grows on volcanic soil. The region is also blessed with the waters of the Chikogu River, which are particularly pure and mild. Nishiyoshida is a company rich in tradition, but modernity is also very important to them. That is why new techniques are constantly being tried out to optimise shochu production and achieve ever better taste experiences. Nishiyoshida's mission is to bring a smile to their customers' faces with every sip of their products. The company succeeds very well in this.
