Fresh from Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, comes the JIN7, series 00! This great gin has 11 botanicals from Japan's oldest herb garden "Kaimon Sanroku" in Ibusuki. Among them are Ho-Leaf, Rose Geranium, Mint or even Lemongrass. In addition, Kagoshima's most famous tea variety Chiran and Ibusuki's popular Kito Yuzu are used. The JIN7 is a beautiful symbiosis of citrus and herbal notes. It is bottled at 47% vol. and is very mild.

Description

The producer of JIN7 is Oyama Jinshichi Shoten in Ibusuki in the far south of Kyushu. The small distillery has been producing the finest imo (sweet potato) shochu since 1875, which forms the basis for the recently produced JIN7. Exquisite herbs from Japan's oldest herb garden "Kaimon Sanroku" are used as botanicals. Chiran tea, the most famous tea from Kagoshima, and Kito Yuzus, which grow in Ibusuki and are extremely aromatic, are also used. The 11 botanicals used are: Juniper berry, rose geranium, rosemary, lemongrass, chiran tea, mint, Mexican marigold, black pepper, red pepper, kito yuzu and ho leaf (also known as Asian rosewood). Essential oils are usually extracted from the latter by steam distillation. JIN7 has a good balance between citrus and herbal notes, and the use of black tea also gives the gin subtle bitter notes.

The bottle design of the JIN7 is particularly elegant. While the neck of the bottle is decorated with wax and looks like a candle, the bottle label has a clothing label with the botanicals. In order to establish the distillery, Oyama Shoten sold his kimono shop in 1875 to have the financial means to build the distillery. The label should always remind of the roots of the company.

The JIN7 has an intense, aromatic taste, is mild and pleasant and can be enjoyed either pure or as a gin tonic (recommended: a good Indian Tonic). This gin is also perfect for cocktails, for example a Martini cocktail or a Gimlet.

The JIN 7 Series 00 is produced only once a year, and only in a very small batch of 3,500 to 4,000 bottles, because the herb garden is extremely small and the herbs can only be harvested in small quantities. The good news: Oyama produces other gins, namely the JIN7 Series 01, which comes up with other exciting botanicals. We also have the JIN7 Series 02 Sakura Cask Finish, a fantastic barrel-aged gin.

About Oyama Jinshichi Shoten

Oyama Jinshichi Shoten was founded in 1875 in Miyagahama, Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture. Since then, the company has been producing the finest imo (sweet potato) shochus. It is a small distillery that produces true craft products. Since September 2019, the distillery now also produces gin, the botanicals for which come from Japan's oldest herb garden "Kaimon Sanroku". Before 1875, the family also owned a kimono store in addition to the distillery. That's why there areclothing labels on the labels of the JIN7 bottles. With this, the producers always want to rememberthe historical roots of the family.
