The first rum from Kagoshima's mainland! Acou Rum is a white craft rum that is characterized by a wonderful aroma and sweet nuances of sugar cane. Notes of ripe pear and grape can be tasted, rounded off by a floral bouquet. The brand name Acou comes from the sacred tree of the Miyagahama region, where the distillery is located.

Acou Rum is the first rum from Oyama Jinchichi Shoten and also the first rum from Kagoshima's mainland. The traditional distillery has been producing the finest shochu, craft gin and liqueurs in Ibusuki since 1875. Acou Rum is fresh and mild. Fruity aromas of ripe pear and grape are paired with a beautiful spiciness and complexity. The finish is long, intense and dry with a floral note of clove. This rum is a blend of two distillates. The first distillate is made from molasses from Kagoshima, the second from high-test molasses obtained from brown sugar from Kagoshima.

The Acou Rum is fantastic for cocktails and long drinks and highballs in extension with soda (1:4).

About the manufacturer

Oyama Jinshichi Shoten was founded in 1875 in Miyagahama, Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture. Since then, the company has been producing the finest sweet potato shochus (imo). It is a small distillery that produces true craft products. Since 2019, the production facility has also been producing gin. The botanicals for this come from Japan's oldest herb garden "Kaimon Sanroku". Before 1875, the family owned a kimono store in addition to the distillery. This is why the labels on the JIN7 bottles feature clothing labels. With this, the producers always want to remember the family's historical roots.

In 2021, the management of the company was transferred to the then 30-year-old son Youhei Oyama, which is very rare in Japan at this young age. He is one of a group of young and extremely talented producers who break new ground and are keen to experiment. For example, Youhei-san produced the first rum from Kagoshima's mainland and also launched a craft cola shochu on the market.
