The Uruwashiki Furusato Legend Awamori is produced by Nakijin Shuzo. Nakijin Shuzo is one of the few Awamori distilleries to have chosen its company name after the town in which the distillery is located. The Nakijin area is blessed with particularly high-quality water. Furusato Legend Awamori is one of the representative brands of Nakijin Shuzo. Uruwashiki Furusato means "beauty of the hometown".

This Awamori consists of 60% matured (Kusu) and 40% freshly distilled Awamori and is blended. Freshly distilled Awamori has an intense spiciness, the older it gets, the richer and deeper the taste becomes. Furusato Legend is produced by atmospheric distillation. In addition to its mild aroma, it is characterized by a full and slightly sweet taste. Paired with the very fine umami notes of black koji, it is intense and profound, yet very smooth and mild at 25% vol.

The Uruwashiki Furusato Legend Awamori pairs very well with fish, (fatty) meat and fried foods. It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, with soda or cold water.

About the manufacturer

Nakijin Shuzo was founded in 1948 in the village of Nakijin in the northern part of the main island of Okinawa. There are around 50 distilleries in Okinawa Prefecture, but Nakijin Shuzo is one of the few that uses the name of the village as the name of the distillery. The area where the distillery is located is blessed with abundant high-quality water, and the awamori produced there is highly regarded in Japan and abroad. The distillery is located at the foot of the Nakijin Castle World Heritage Site.
The company focuses a great deal on the various storage options for Awamori. In particular, it focuses on the production of "old awamori" (kusu), which is aged for over three years. This includes ageing in clay pots, wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks.
