Description

Manufacturer Beniotome is located in the city of Kurume in the Fukuoka prefecture on Kyūshū. In 1978, the world's first distillate from sesame was produced here. The inventor of sesame shochu was the then 65-year-old Haruno Hayashida, who, as the wife of a sake brewer, had actually had nothing to do with the production of shochu until then. After many attempts, she finally succeeded in creating the intense and complex taste of a sesame shochu and became a pioneer in this field.

Beniotome 101 is a very special product, as it is both the evolution and the confident work based on the technology and experience of the company's previous sesame shochu range. The combination of white sesame, barley as well as white rice koji, as well as the over three years of aging in steel tanks, make the taste of Beniotome 101 so delicious, complex and exciting. With its 25% vol. it is very light and pleasant to drink. Due to the fine sesame note, this Shochu goes particularly well with food, such as grilled or fried fish, roasted meat, but also with spicy dishes and sweet desserts.

Beniotome's sesame shochus have won many awards, such as the Best Gold Award at the Monde Selection 2009. For many years, the iTQi (International Taste and Quality Institute) has awarded Beniotome Shochus for their consistently good quality. At the Craft Spirits Awards 2021 in Berlin, the Beniotome 101 won bronze in the shochu category.

The Beniotome 101 can be enjoyed straight or on the rocks, but also extended with soda. Due to its beautiful sesame note it is an exciting ingredient for cocktails.
