Azukihattan: The Manhattan with Far Eastern elegance

With a touch of Japan and the elegance of a classic, this drink invites you to discover it: The Azukihattan, a harmonious fusion of tradition and Far Eastern finesse. The base is the complex Mars Maltage Cosmo, a Japanese whisky with fruity notes and a hint of smoke. Together with red vermouth, a dash of Angostura and the extraordinary Dover Azuki liqueur, the result is a cocktail that tastes familiar yet surprisingly new.

The azuki bean is a small, reddish-brown legume that has been used in sweet dishes in Japan for centuries. Its delicate, nutty aroma gives the drink a soft depth and an unmistakably Japanese flavor.

The Manhattan, on which this recipe is based, is one of the great icons of cocktail history. Created in New York at the end of the 19th century, it impresses with its simple sophistication: Strong whiskey, sweet vermouth and a hint of bitters - that's all it takes for timeless elegance. This balance of strength and smoothness makes it a symbol of classic bar culture to this day.

The Azukihattan picks up on this structure and takes it further: Japanese craftsmanship meets American bar culture - a drink with depth, soul and a touch of wanderlust.

You need:

- 4 cl Mars Maltage Cosmo Whisky

- 3 cl red vermouth

- 1.5cl Dover Azuki liqueur

- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, stir until cold and strain into a coupe.

Kanpai!
