Hombo Shuzo is the producer of the famous Mars Whisky, and Wa Bi Gin is also produced at the company's Tsunuki distillery in Kagoshima. Wa Bi translates as "Japanese beauty". This great gin is characterized by subtle notes of yuzu. The nose is followed by a beautiful aroma of ginger, shiso and kumquat, while nuances of green tea and juniper can be felt on the palate. The nine botanicals from Kagoshima Prefecture are kumquat, yuzu, green tea, lemon, Hetsuke Daidai (bitter orange), Saigon cinnamon leaves, clam ginger, shiso and ginger. There are also two imported botanicals, namely juniper berries and coriander seeds.

The bottle is also extraordinarily beautiful, both in its bright blue color and its spectacular design.

Wa Bi Gin is exciting, complex and intense and its botanicals reveal the flavors of Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan's beautiful south. It tastes great neat, as a gin and tonic, gin sonic (with soda) and is a great base for exciting cocktails.

About the manufacturer

Hombo Shuzo is a traditional producer of alcoholic beverages, founded in 1872. Originally planned as a shochu distillery, the company first applied for a whisky license in 1949. In 1985, this was successful and the long-awaited distillery was opened in Shinshu to produce whisky with special Japanese characteristics. The distillery is located in the small village of Miyada high up in the Japanese Alps in Nagano, 798 meters above sea level and not far from Tokyo. Due to a lack of demand - almost unimaginable today - whisky production was discontinued in 1992. In 2011, the producer then ventured a new start in whisky. Today, Hombo Shuzo is one of Japan's most important and renowned whisky producers with its Mars bottlings. Hombo's shochus are extremely popular and win one gold medal after another in global spirit competitions. Hombo Shuzo now has three distilleries in Japan: in addition to the Mars Shinshu Distillery in Nagano, there is also the Tsunuki Distillery and the Chiran Distillery, both located in Kagoshima Prefecture.
