The Shizuoka United S - 2023 Summer is produced in the Shizuoka distillery founded by Taiko Nakamura in 2016. This is characterized by its unique pot stills, including the world's only wood-fired, directly heated still, which gives the whisky its characteristic taste. This limited edition is a combination of distillates from the Karuizawa pot still and a wood-fired pot still, matured in ex-bourbon casks and unoaked oak casks.

Aroma: Honey, cream, vanilla, a hint of smoke and apricot.

Taste: Floral, caramel, roasted nuts.

Finish: Medium length, balanced and spicy on the palate. Nutmeg, pepper and sweet oranges.

It is noted on the bottlings which pot still was used for the whiskies.
K = Distilled in the old Karuizawa pot still
W = Distilled in the Woodburn pot still
S = Blend of both pot stills.

About the manufacturer

The Shizuoka Distillery was founded in 2016 by Taiko Nakamura and is characterized by its unique pot stills, including the world's only wood-fired, directly heated still, which gives the whisky its characteristic taste. Alongside renowned and famous names such as Chichibu and Kanosuke, Shizuoka is part of a fascinating movement to produce high-quality Japanese craft whisky. With no experience in the alcohol industry, Nakamura sought advice from eminent mentors and built one of Japan's best-known craft whisky distilleries. The distillery is located on the banks of the Abe-Nakagawachi River, not far from the famous Mount Fuji, nestled in the lush mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture.
