About the manufacturer

The Shizuoka Distillery was founded in 2016 by Taiko Nakamura and is characterized by its unique pot stills, including the world's only wood-fired, directly heated still, which gives the whisky its characteristic taste. Alongside renowned and famous names such as Chichibu and Kanosuke, Shizuoka is part of a fascinating movement to produce high-quality Japanese craft whisky. With no experience in the alcohol industry, Nakamura sought advice from eminent mentors and built one of Japan's best-known craft whisky distilleries. The distillery is located on the banks of the Abe-Nakagawachi River, not far from the famous Mount Fuji, nestled in the lush mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture.
