Yuzu Rocks Liqueur

Die Yuzu fand sehr wahrscheinlich ihren Weg über China nach Japan. Sie sieht aus wie eine Zitrone, allerdings sehr viel größer, denn sie kann den Umfang einer Orange erreichen. Allerdings liefert die Yuzu sehr viel weniger Saft als die Zitrone. Das Fruchtfleisch ist sauer-aromatisch, leicht bitter und saftig. Ein weiterer Unterschied zwischen Yuzu und Zitrone ist das Aroma. Das fällt bei der Yuzu nämlich wesentlich komplexer und intensiver aus, jedoch nicht so sauer wie bei einer Zitrone.

Hersteller des Yuzu Rocks Likörs ist die SAKURAO Brewery and Distillery mit Sitz in der Präfektur Hirsoshima. Das Unternehmen stellt dort auch seinen berühmten Sakurao Gin her. Der Likör besteht zu 100% aus japanischer Yuzu, aus der sowohl Yuzu-Saft als auch Yuzu-Aromaöl gewonnen wird. Bei der Herstellung von Yuzu Rocks wird eine einzigartige und patentierte Doppelduftmethode verwendet. Das natürliche Yuzu-Aromaöl wird aus Yuzu-Schalen mittels Wasserdampfdestillation extrahiert. Der Gehalt an reinem Yuzu-Saft beträgt über 15%, das entspricht rund fünf Yuzu-Früchten. Gleichzeitig werden keine Säuerungsmittel oder Aromastoffe zugesetzt. Das ausgeprägteste Merkmal von Yuzu Rocks ist der besondere bitter-saure Geschmack und der extrem erfrischende Duft. Mit 16% vol ist dieser Likör angenehm mild und leicht.

Yuzu Rocks schmeckt großartig pur und on the rocks, kann aber auch sehr gut als Zutat oder Basis für tolle Cocktails verwendet werden. Perfekt auch als Longdrink mit Tonic, Soda, Cola, Calpis oder Ginger Ale. Da keine Konservierungsstoffe verwendet werden, sollte Yuzu Rocks nach dem Öffnen im Kühlschrank aufbewahrt und innerhalb von 10 Wochen verzehrt werden. Vor Gebrauch bitte gut schütteln.

The SAKURAO Brewery and Distillery was founded under the name Chugoku Jozo in 1918 in the Sakurao district of Hatsukaichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture. Initially a producer of shochu and sake, the company has been producing the famous Togouchi whisky since 1990, for which the distillates are imported from Scotland and Canada. Only the storage and blending are carried out by the SAKURAO Brewery. However, storage takes place in a very special place: the city's 361-metre-long railroad tunnel, which has never been completed, is used to store the fine spirits. The temperature here is 14 degrees Celsius all year round and the humidity is 80%, ideal conditions for maturing shochu and whisky.

Since December 2017, the company has been involved in the production of Western craft spirits following the establishment of another production facility, the Sakurao Distillery. The first spirit is the Sakurao Gin Original, followed shortly afterwards by special editions of this gin series, the Sakurao Gin Limited and the Sakurao Gin Hamagou, both in small quantities. The hundred years of experience in the production of spirits is certainly one reason why Sakurao Gin tastes so fantastic. In 2018, the company then released its natural liqueur series with "Hassaku Rocks" and "Lemon Rocks". The company's first single malt whisky has been available since 2021. In March 2021, the company changed its name to SAKURAO Brewery and Distillery Co. Ltd.
