The Akkeshi Taisetsu 2022 Single Malt Whisky - The Great Snowfall is a Japanese single malt whisky from the still very young Akkeshi distillery, which is based in Hokkaido. This whisky is bottled at cask strength at 55% and is part of the "24 Solar Term Series", which is based on the old Asian calendar in which a year is divided into 24 solar periods.

The Akkeshi Taisetsu 2022, which is heavily peated by Japanese standards, is the tenth release in the "24 Solar Term Series". Taisetsu means "the great snowfall" and thus stands for the time of year when both the plains and the mountains of Hokkaido are covered in snow. Its taste is correspondingly cool, characterized by citrus fruits such as orange and mandarin as well as herbs and peat.

Aroma: Citrus fruits such as orange and mandarin meet gentle aromas of honey and brown sugar.

Taste: Peat, light notes of soy sauce, buttered toast and herbs.

Finish: Long with lime, ripe mandarin, gentle spice.
