The Shizuoka United S - 1st Edition is the second single malt from Shizuoka, which was produced in a small edition of 5,000 bottles. This whisky consists mainly of barley malt. With an alcohol content of 50.5%, it is powerful and intense with a subtle smoky note. Afascinating and rare Japanese whisky, distilled in the legendary Karuizawa Distillery.
Description
The Shizuoka United S - 1st Edition is produced in the Shizuoka distillery founded by Taiko Nakamura in 2016. This is characterized by its unique pot stills, including the world's only wood-fired, directly heated still, which gives the whisky its characteristic taste. This limited edition is a combination of distillates from the Karuizawa pot still and a wood-fired pot still, matured in ex-bourbon casks and unoaked oak barrels.
Aroma: Honey, cream, vanilla, a hint of smoke and apricot.
Taste: Floral, caramel, roasted nuts.
Finish: Medium length and spicy on the palate. Nutmeg, pepper and sweet oranges.
