The Akashi Meisei Deluxe Sherry Cask Finish from the traditional White Oak Distillery combines Japanese craftsmanship with a fine sense of aroma and balance. Intense notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit unfold on the nose and palate, harmoniously accompanied by a creamy hint of vanilla - an influence of the maturation in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. With a malt content of 50%, this whisky is wonderfully full-bodied. After its time in bourbon casks, the finish in selected sherry casks gives it its unmistakable depth and elegant sweetness.

The Meisei Deluxe Sherry Cask is an elegant blended whisky with a high proportion of malt whisky. The cask maturation in the various casks gives it depth, structure and a pleasantly spicy sweetness. In the glass, the Akashi Meisei Deluxe Sherry Cask is soft and expressive at the same time - a Japanese whisky that harmoniously combines tradition and modern craftsmanship.

Aroma: Fine honey cake and notes of candied orange combine with chocolate-covered raisins and ripe stone fruit. A hint of toasted oak rounds off the bouquet.

Taste: Full-bodied and balanced with oak spice, sweet vanilla and stewed plums. There are also nuances of roasted almonds, caramel cream and a hint of cinnamon.

Finish: Medium-long and harmonious with hints of cocoa, candied fruit and a gentle oak spice.

About the manufacturer

Founded by Eigashima Shuzo, the Eigashima distillery, formerly known as White Oak, was established in Akashi in Hyogo Prefecture in 1984. The distillery is located near the Seto Inland Sea and benefits from a climate with large temperature differences between winter and summer. This favors the maturation of the whiskies.

Eigashima Shuzo is a traditional company that was founded in 1679 as a sake brewery. As a sake brewing region, Hyogo Prefecture is particularly famous for its great water, which is of course also extremely important for the production of whisky. The company has also been producing shochu, umeshu and wine since 1888. In the early 1960s, the distillation of whisky began with seasonal and artisanal production. It was not until 1984 that Eigashima Shuzo decided to dedicate part of the site entirely to whisky production by building a malt distillery inspired by the Scottish model, which was named White Oak. Today, the distillery produces a small artisanal production of high quality, with particular emphasis on the balance of the distillates and the variety of maturation casks.
