Introduced: Oyama Jinchichi Shoten from Ibusuki, Kyushu

Oyama Jinchichi Shoten is a small craft distillery from Ibusuki, which belongs to the beautiful prefecture of Kagoshima. We had the great pleasure of visiting the distillery during our last trip to Japan at the end of August. As the distillery was in the middle of production for its sweet potato shochu (imo shochu), we were even allowed to cut sweet potatoes ourselves. Incidentally, this is not as easy as you might think, as the imos are extremely hard and slippery, so quite a lot of force is required.

It was great to finally meet the people behind the Craft Distillery in person. We've been working together for almost 3 years now, but unfortunately during the pandemic it wasn't possible to travel and meet up. Youhei Ooyama is a young and extremely creative spirit producer. In addition to the Jin7 series, we also have his Ten Sho Chu in our portfolio. Oyama is very well known throughout Japan for his Imo Shochus. As Youhei-san produces at least 2-3 new products per year, you can be sure that more of his delicacies will find their way to Germany. A little preview: From January 2023, we will have his brand new "Acou Rum" in our range. Stay tuned!
