Japanese whiskey is now among the most renowned spirits in the world. Hardly any other country has managed to build such an outstanding reputation in just a few decades. International awards, coveted limited-edition bottlings, and a steadily growing fan base all show that Japan has long been a top player in the global whiskey scene.
Although its roots lie in Scotland, Japanese distilleries have developed the whisky into something unique over many decades. Carefully selected ingredients, crystal-clear spring water, and an uncompromising commitment to quality result in exceptionally harmonious and elegant bottlings. Rather than aiming for maximum intensity, Japanese whiskies often captivate with their balance, precision, and impressive aromatic depth. Each distillery has its own unique style. We have permanently lowered the prices on a total of 17 whiskies from Nikka, Hombo Shuzo, and Kanosuke.
Nikka – The Legend
Nikka is one of Japan’s best-known whiskey producers. Founded by Masataka Taketsuru—who learned his craft in Scotland and is considered the father of Japanese whiskey—the distillery has been producing whiskeys that are appreciated worldwide for decades. Ranging from fruity and elegant to full-bodied and slightly smoky, Nikka offers an impressive variety and is considered by many to be the ideal introduction to the world of Japanese whiskey.
Mars – Variety from Hombo Shuzo
Behind the Brand Mars Whiskey Behind it all stands Hombo Shuzo, a family-owned company steeped in tradition that is now one of Japan’s leading whiskey producers. As the country’s third-largest whiskey producer, Hombo Shuzo operates several distilleries and aging warehouses in various locations—from the famous Mars Shinshu Distillery in the Japanese Alps to the Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima in southern Japan. The varying climatic conditions give each whisky its own distinct character and result in an impressive variety of elegant, fruity, and complex bottlings.
Kanosuke – Tradition Meets a New Generation of Whiskey
TheKanosuke Distillery is one of Japan’s newest whiskey distilleries. Behind it, however, stands the long-established family business Komasa Jyozo, which has been producing high-quality shochu since 1883. For more than 140 years, the family has been perfecting its craft in the areas of fermentation, distillation, and barrel aging—experience that now also informs the production of its whiskeys.
Instead of copying existing concepts, Kanosuke developed its own style from the very beginning. A variety of pot stills, carefully selected barrels, and Kagoshima’s mild coastal climate give rise to elegant, complex whiskies with exceptional balance. Just a few years after the distillery opened, the first bottlings caused a major sensation internationally and were honored with numerous awards. Kanosuke thus combines the best of two worlds: over a century of distilling experience meets the courage to break new ground.
