Japanmarkt Berlin: Premiere on 1.07. at Birgit & Bier
Jun 04, 2018
"Berlin meets Japan" - the Japan Market Berlin celebrates its premiere!
On July 1, 2018, the Japanmarkt Berlin will take place for the first time. The colorful design market with Japanese flair will open its doors at Birgit & Bier at Schleusenufer 3 in Kreuzberg from noon to 7 pm. Visitors can look forward to art, culture and lifestyle from the land of the rising sun. And we'll be there too!
For organizer Claudia Albert, her love of Japanese design was the catalyst for launching the Japanmarkt with artists, creatives and Japanese stores and traders in Berlin. Incidentally, she is more than experienced as an organizer of Japanese-related events: After all, Albert has been organizing Japandult in Munich since summer 2013, an event with the same and extremely successful concept. "In the capital, the design market can draw on the wealth of Japanese gastronomy, culture and joie de vivre that has developed here in recent years," says Claudia Albert. "Everything Japan has to offer in terms of culinary delights - and that's much more than just sushi."
The Japanmarkt Berlin also invites you to join in. As creativity should not be neglected, guests can take part in workshops, for example on origami, furoshiki (Japanese gift cloths) and kanshi (Japanese poems). A lecture by Dorothee Schlüter will shed light on the cultural and historical background of the kimono and the significance of this important piece of clothing for Japan. Japanese dancer Chihoko Yanagi will present traditional Japanese dance in her performance. And Japanese DJs Yohei Sal Suzuki and Ononiionioniion will provide the appropriate music.
Visit us at our stand at the Japanmarkt Berlin at Birgit & Bier in Kreuzberg. Admission is 3 €, children and teenagers up to 15 years can experience the fun for free.
