Awamori Coffee 35 Sango Liqueur

The Awamori Coffee 35 Sango is a coffee liqueur of superlatives! Because it not only tastes really great, but also does something for a good cause. 3.5% of the revenue is used to protect the endangered coral reefs in Okinawa. It is produced without the addition of sugar, and the intense coffee taste is obtained solely by the special roasting process of the coffee beans. The alcoholic base of the 35 Sango is Awamori, the national drink of Okinawa, Japan's southernmost prefecture.

Description

The "35 Coffee" Company can be found many times in Okinawa. When roasting the coffee, the company takes a very special approach: the coffee beans are roasted at up to 200° Celsius over weathered corals. This is similar to a stone roasting method and produces a particularly gentle and mild, yet aromatic coffee. This process is of course also used for Awamori Coffee 35 Sango Liqueur. Sango means both coral and 35 in Japanese, by the way. The coffee beans used for the production are first soaked in Awamori for one month before roasting. The liqueur is extremely aromatic and has subtle bitter notes with a light and pleasant acidity. The deep brown colour is shown to its best advantage in the elegant glass bottle. No artificial flavourings and no sugar are added.

Incidentally, "35 Coffee" invests 3.5 % of its total turnover in the "Coral Reproduction Project". This project was launched in 2009 to protect and restore the coral population of Okinawa, 90% of which was already destroyed at that time. Also from the sale of 35 Sango Liqueur, 3.5% goes directly into saving the coral reef.

The 35 Sango Liqueur can be enjoyed on the rocks or straight. It is also ideal for cocktails or to refine desserts.
